Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Verse (“we”, “us”), a social reading tracker. By creating an account or using Verse, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who can use Verse

You must be at least 13 years old to use Verse. By using the service you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate. If you use Verse on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms for it.

Your account

  • You are responsible for your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account.
  • You may sign in with an email and password or with a third-party provider such as Google. When you use a third-party provider, their terms also apply to that sign-in.
  • Let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Acceptable use

To keep Verse safe and useful for everyone, you agree not to:

  • Break the law, infringe others’ rights, or violate these terms.
  • Harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse other people.
  • Post content that is unlawful, hateful, or harmful, or spam other users.
  • Attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, or probe, scan, or disrupt the service.
  • Scrape, copy, or resell the service or its data without our permission, or use automated systems in a way that harms the service.

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add to Verse, such as your reading notes, reviews, and profile details. You grant us a limited license to host, store, and display that content so we can operate the product, including showing your activity to other users as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the content you post and confirm you have the right to share it.

Our content and trademarks

The Verse name, logo, design, and software are owned by us and are protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not give you any right to use our branding without our written permission. Book titles, covers, and related metadata belong to their respective owners.

Third-party services

Verse relies on third-party services, including Supabase for authentication and data storage, Google for optional sign-in, and Open Library for book search and cover images. Your use of those features may also be subject to the providers’ own terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

Service changes and availability

We are actively building Verse, so features may change, and the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, error free, or that your data will never be lost, and we encourage you to keep your own records of anything important.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Verse is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using Verse and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms or use the service in a way that could harm other users or the service. When your account ends, the sections of these terms that should survive, such as content ownership and liability, remain in effect.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Verse after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
